While looking around The MFA Chronicles this past creative writing MFA application season, I was sad to discover it had ended in 2011. It was an amazing resource for me as I was applying to MFA programs in creative writing, and afterwards as I read about Jonterri Gadson’s experiences at the University of Virginia‘s MFA program.

The MFA Years is very much inspired by The MFA Chronicles. This blog will follow 12 first-year creative writing MFAs in poetry, fiction, and nonfiction through their time in graduate school. I hope we’ll be able to shed some light on the creative writing MFA application process, MFA writing workshops, teaching, and anything else that pops up along the way. In addition to our regular contributors, we’re looking for other creative writing MFA students to guest post on the blog and share insights into the programs they’re attending.

We’ll also be featuring creative writing MFA graduates, PhD students, second- and third-year students, MA students concentrating in creative writing, and others. Please contact us if you’re interested in participating or if you have any questions.

Over the summer we’ll be publishing introductory posts and blogging about various writing- and graduate school-related topics.

Regular blogging will begin in August/September when all of us are officially in our creative writing MFAs. If you’d like to learn more about our bloggers, head on over to our contributors page.
